Ferme Mégalex, our story in brief
Our adventure began on April 2, 2014, with the purchase of the northern part of Ferme Marlidas. Passionate about agriculture and animals, we moved in with our three children, two dogs, and seven horses, naming the farm in their honor.
We started by boarding about sixty heifers, then planted 2,500 garlic bulbs and potatoes on a small scale. In 2016, we partnered with Guy Gosselin and Nadia Bilodeau to further develop potato cultivation. After three years of independent management, we now plant 600 pounds of potatoes and 5,000 garlic plants, with a wide variety of vegetables sold at our stand.
In 2019, leasing Ferme Bloubi increased our boarding capacity to 125 heifers, allowing Nathalie to retire. In 2020, we installed two small greenhouses for tomatoes, peppers, and seedlings.
For the past seven years, we have also been raising grain-fed chickens, free-range pigs, and beef, while keeping about a hundred laying hens for fresh eggs. Having become Terego hosts last year, we welcome RV travelers who discover our farm and purchase our products.
For 2022, we plan to plant 185 hardy kiwis, 100 camerises, and 30 blackcurrant bushes. We thank our children, young employees, friends, and family for their essential support.
